Janine scoops another Garden Award
Janine Pattison Studios, based in Bournemouth, has received another award at the recent BALI National Landscape Awards 2012, held at the Grovesnor Hotel in London’s Park Lane. They won a Landscape Design Excellence Award for their latest Signature Collection garden at Lakeside Road. This was their fifth award in the past 12 months, including 2 at last year’s BALI Awards.
The Awards, which are run annually by the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI), pay tribute to landscape designers who have demonstrated exceptionally high standards of professionalism and skill. BBC TV news presenter Huw Edwards presented the award to Lead Consultant Janine Pattison.
Janine Pattison Studios were given the brief to create a sympathetic landscape to suit a stylish new house. The client was looking for a simple, elegant, romantic and beautiful garden that she could enjoy for many years to come. Janine Pattison Studios decided to create an exclusive ‘garden spa retreat’ for the client, including elements such as a sedum-roofed garden lodge with sauna, shower, bespoke built-in bar, swim spa pool with large patios and lawn that could be viewed and enjoyed from any of the four levels of the property. The Judges commented: “A confident yet simple design technically a challenging scheme with great planting.”
Commenting on the company’s success, Creative Director Denise Wright said: “We are honoured and thrilled to be judged by our profession to have produced the best garden design of 2012 – it really proves that local companies can buck the trend and still grow and succeed in these tough economic times with hard work and talent.”
Janine and Denise have been working with Dormen Mentor, Martin Spooner, for over two years. Martin said: “The Dormen organisation exists to support and mentor Dorset businesses. At the start, in the case of Janine Pattison Studios, in their words their progress was ‘like walking through treacle’. As a mentor, I have simply assisted by unlocking a door. Janine Pattison and Creative Director Denise Wright have run through it with remarkable and very professional ease all because they had the confidence to share their plans and fears and then focus on real, shared and costed strategies. I am very proud of the whole team.”
